Tutorial: Gray Glitter Halo Eye

Hi, guys! Today I am doing a tutorial on a gray glitter halo eye. I’ve had this glitter for awhile now and thought it would go great with this look. This look would be great around the holidays with a red lip, too. I really like this look, I hope you do as well! All products used will be listed at end of tutorial.

Step one: Prime and prep skin. Also, prime your eyelids.

Step two: Apply an eyeshadow the same shade of your eyelids. This will help with blending.

Step three: Apply a gray eyeshadow on the lid, into the crease and blend to brow bone. Avoid putting any product on the center of the lid.

Step four: Apply concealer on the center of the eyelid to clean up.

Step five: Apply clear latex-free lash glue to the center of the eyelid, into the crease. Tip: Close eyes while drying.

Step six: Using a disposable eyeshadow brush, apply the glitter. It’s best to wait 30 seconds before applying the glitter when it is tacky. I also applied a metallic taupe over the gray – only on the lid and slightly in the crease – to intensify.

Step seven: Apply gray eyeshadow and glitter to the bottom lash line. Touch up/intensify gray eyeshadow, if needed. I did with a different gray eyeshadow.

Step eight: Apply black liquid eyeliner (optional). Apply black mascara to your lashes. I used a burgundy mascara on my bottom lashes to match my lipstick.

Step nine: Apply foundation, concealer, powder, eyebrows, etc. I did a soft but contoured and blushed cheek. Also a burgundy lip.

Finished look:

Products used:

Priming spray: Urban Decay – Quick Fix Hydracharged Complexion Prep Priming Spray.

Primer: Urban Decay – Optical Illusion Complexion Primer. Also, Milk Makeup – Blur Stick where needed.

Foundation: Wet n Wild – Photo Focus Foundation in Nude Ivory 363C. Used cosmetic sponge to apply.

Color corrector (under eyes): NYX Professional Makeup – Color Correcting Concealer, I used the peachy pink shade.

Concealer: Maybelline – SuperStay Better Skin Concealer in 30 Medium.

Loose powder: Laura Mercier – Loose setting powder in Transulcent.

Eyeshadow primer: Too Faced – Shadow Insurance.

Skin tone eyeshadow: Individual shadow from Sally’s, name unknown. Any matte skin tone shade is fine or a powder foundation.

Gray eyeshadow: Coastal Scents – Hot Pot in Steel Grey.

Gray eyeshadow to touch up: Sephora Collection – The Romantics Eye palette. I used the light gray. Temporarily sold out or discontinued.

Glitter: Too Faced – Glitterly (no longer sold). Glamour Dust in Blue Angel / French Blue is very similar.

Metallic taupe eyeshadow: Coastal Scents – Hot Pot in Aluminum Taupe.

Concealer for the center of lid: L’oreal – Infallible Pro Glow Concealer in 01 Classic Ivory.

Lash glue: Ardell – Duo Brush-On Adhesive With Vitamins in clear.

Black liner: Kat Von D – Tattoo Liner in Tropper.

Black Mascara: tarte – Lights Camera Lashes.

Burgandy mascara: Sephora Collection – V for V.O.L.U.M.E. Mascara in Marsala.

Brows: Benefit – Precisely, My Brow Pencil Ultra Fine Shape & Define in 3 and Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in 3.

Lipstick: L’oreal – Infallible Lip Paints in 326 Sultry Sangria. I’ve been wearing this color for the past few days and I absolutely love it! If you’re looking for a burgundy or fall lip color I highly recommend it. If burgundy lips aren’t your thing, the formula of the lip paints are great, great applicator, buildable and come in many colors so you should check them out, too!

Bronzer and blush: e.l.f – Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia.

What do you guys think about this look?

Note: The glitter stays on with no fall out however it was difficult to remove. It is best to remove your makeup as normal then get a cotton swab and apply eye makeup remover to the glitter.

Also, my school is hosting a contest! The contest is to create a look for Leanne Marshall’s S/S 2017 NYFW Collection. There are prizes, it is open to the public, so you should check it out!
