Huge Makeup Haul Follow Up Review

Hi, guys! I hope you all are well. I can’t believe it’s been over two weeks since my haul. Since then I’ve fallen in love with some items, hated some items and just not been that impressed with some items. Here are my final thoughts on these products.

tarte – Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Light.

I really like this concealer. I had really high hopes for it and I do think it’s living up to them. It’s taken some time to figure out what works best but I’ve been applying it in one layer, blending with a beauty blender, then adding another layer, blending with a beauty blender, then setting with loose powder. So far I am really liking it, it doesn’t crease, transfer anything like that. I do think it is way pricey, but I do really like it.

Rating out of 5: 4.5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes! I really like it, I think you would enjoy using it.

tarte – Tarteist Metallic Shadow in Dark Seas.

Unfortunately, I haven’t used this yet. From the swatches, I did it looks like a beautiful, creamy, long lasting, pigmented color. Every review I read was positive. Also, the packaging is so cute!

Rating out of 5: Based only on swatching, 4.

Will I repurchase/recommend? I think $14 is a little steep, but it’s a beautiful product.

tarte – Free Gift! no longer available.

Sadly this is no longer available however they usually have a free gift. I love the bag. I haven’t used it for makeup but I use it to store jewelry etc. on my bedside table. The blending sponge is kind of confusing. It’s the size between a beauty blender and a mini beauty blender. It is hard to get a good grip on. With that being said it’s weird because I think it’s too big for my under eyes and too small for my face. I tried to blend in a foundation with this and it took too long and was a bit hard. I will certainly use it more but I don’t think this is worth your money.

Rating out of 5: 3.5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Pass on this. It’s 4 dollars shy of a beauty blender, just go for that. However, the bag is great.

tarte – Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara

I love this stuff. Seriously, please go try it. I rarely use any other mascara because this stuff is just so amazing. It lengthens, thickens, doesn’t clump. It’s the perfect formula. It never transfers. You can literally sit down and apply it forever, it will not clump. SO. GOOD. Also, great wand for lower lashes.

I highly recommend picking this bad gal up in a tarte gift set, they are an amazing brand and you can try a lot of makeup for a great price.

Rating out of 5: 500

Will I repurchase/recommend? YES. Try this, you will not regret it.

It Cosmetics – Celebration Foundation in Medium.

I love this stuff! I originally purchased this when it first came out in the shade Medium Beige. I will say that Medium is much darker than that and Medium Beige has been discontinued. Anyway, it’s medium-full coverage and adds a ton of coverage on top of any liquid foundation.

Rating out of 5: 4.5

Will I repurchase/recommend: Yes! This was a repurchase and if you are on the hunt for a powder foundation this will not disappoint.

ULTA – Butter Balm Lip Gloss in Belle

This is currently on sale, 3 for $9, that’s the price of one! Since this is on sale I HIGHLY recommend that you try this out. Belle is the perfect topper for any lipstick and it has a great formula that is not at all sticky.

Rating out of 5: 5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes, you won’t regret it.

L’Oreal® – Paris Infallible Total Cover Foundation in 01.

I hate this stuff. I wrote about this in September Favorites 2017 + Makeup Breakup, so I will just insert what I had to say below.

“I purchased this because NikkieTutorials have raved about mixing Total Cover with Pro Glow, both from the Infallible line. I have been wanting to test out a new foundation for a while and because of Nikkie’s love for it and my love for Pro Matte, I decided to purchase it. I don’t know if I got a dud or what but this is pretty much the worst foundation I’ve ever tried.

I had swatched this onto my hand and noticed it didn’t really “set” itself. At one point about 20 minutes after applying, I noticed it came off if I touched it. Typically with Pro Matte, it always stays in place and I never need to set it with powder because it “sets” itself. I just thought that was kind of weird and thought I could easily fix it by setting with powder or a setting spray. I also noticed on my hand that if I would rub the foundation at all (blending etc) with my fingers it would kind of ball up. After that, I still thought I could make it work and it would perform differently on my face.

Wrong.

I have oily/combo skin meaning my t-zone (specifically nose) is oily and the rest of my face is typically normal or a bit dry. I also have sensitive skin that loves to be red but I never have problems with breaking out when trying new products or anything like that.

I first applied my moisturizer, which was a new one. I let it set for the regular amount of time I would before proceeding with my makeup. Then I applied Becca’s Backlight Filter Primer. I love that stuff. Despite having oilyish skin it always looks lovely and just gives some sort of extra pizzazz to my makeup.

Then I applied the foundation. Application at first was a-okay, it felt like a moose going on the skin, air-light but kind of still heavy. The more I worked it in with my cosmetic sponge (beauty blender “dupe”, always works for me.) it just got drier and drier. Let me remind you, I previously moisturized and have on a dewy primer. I blended some more, I think I even dampened my sponge more and added more product to try to bring it back. This just turned into some sort of dry, patchy mess. I’ll insert a picture below so you can see what I mean. Note: This picture was taken a few minutes after applying foundation. The different shades of blush/different applications were intentional, it was for a school project.

So I figured “wow, what a bad foundation day” and just figured I’d try it again with a flat top foundation brush or a different primer. Shortly after, I was washing my face and felt a ton of bumps on my skin, some of my cheeks. I never break out from trying new products.

Anyway, long horror story short, I definitely broke out because of this product. I returned this product a few days later. I don’t know if I got a dud or what but the foundation wrecked my skin for a few days and just didn’t work for me. Also, it really wasn’t full coverage.”

I still feel the same way and this product was just a huge disappointment.

Rating out of 5: -.5

Will I repurchase/recommend? No. You may have better luck but based on my experience I would say to stay clear of this one, especially if you have dry skin. I really love Pro Matte, I highly recommend that one.

NYX – Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette.

Brunette is a little red/warm for me but otherwise, I love it, I love it, I love it! Blendable, true to color, anything good about a brow pencil this one has. I think it’s great.

Rating out of 5: 5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes! If you like brow pencils, don’t pass this up

NYX – Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo

This looked so much darker in the bottle. It ended up being a pinky-red. My mom loved the color so I gave it to her.

Rating out of 5: Based off of the formula, not the color, 4

Will I repurchase/recommend? I really like the formula of these, get a color and try it out!

Wet n Wild® – Countouring Palette in Dulce De Leche

Also mentioned in September Favorites 2017 + Makeup Breakup, I really love this stuff.

“I had been looking for a contour powder for awhile now and found a gem in this one! I think it works really flattering on my skin tone, isn’t too cool but definitely is a contour shade. The formula is very blendable, buildable and pigmented. I occasionally use the highlighting shade to “clean up” under my cheek contour or to highlight my brow bone. The only negative thing about the palette is there is a lot of kickback in the pan, not a huge problem but a small flaw.”

Rating out of 5: 5.

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes! Love this stuff, you should try it.

Wet n Wild® – ProLine® Graphic Marker Eyeliner in Black.

I’ve only worn this once but really liked it. I did see some similarities to KVD’s Tattoo Liner. It was actually easier to apply and lasted just as long. Also, it did not gather in the inner corner!

Rating out of 5: 4.5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes! Amazing price and so far I don’t have anything bad to say about it.

Revlon – PhotoReady Eye Art Lid+Line+Lash in 050 Cobalt Crystal and 120 Midnight Glitz.

I wrote about a green shade in First Impressions/Tutorial: Holy Glitter! Semi Cut Crease. I really like this product. It undoubtedly has flaws but it makes glitter application so easy. This will crease, flake off after hours of application and peel if placed around the inner corner. But it will pack a beautiful punch. If you don’t mind working with a product to get it to work and like glitter, I think you’ll like this.

Rating out of 5: 3.5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes. Pick your favorite color combo and give it a try. If you don’t like it, return it.

Coty – Airspun Loose Face Powder in Translucent.

Gosh, I love this stuff. This was a September Favorite and has a special place in my makeup heart. This doesn’t crease, leaves a seamless silky finish and sets your makeup all day long. I hate the shifter, it takes forever to get enough product out. Also not a fan of the scent, but since the first use the scent has died down and isn’t too noticeable. Here’s what I said about it in my September Favorites 2017 + Makeup Breakup

“I picked this up because I read it was better than Laura Mercier’s which is one of my favorite powders. I just really like this powder and think it’s a must-have for loose powder. It keeps my under eyes from creasing and my favorite thing about this powder is that it keeps foundation from falling into lines/creases throughout the day. Two things I don’t love about this powder is the smell and the powder puff it comes with. The smell just reminds me of grandmas (not a bad thing) and I personally don’t like it. It was a lot more “potent” upon first opening the powder and the smell will wear off a few minutes after applying. The powder puff isn’t the typical puff you receive, it just seems like cotton more than a “pad”. There’s nothing wrong with that, once again just personal preference.”

Rating out of 5: 4.8

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes. This will change your makeup game.

Neutrogena® – Oil-Free Moisture Combination Skin

I really like this moisturizer. It hydrates dry patches but doesn’t make my nose oily-er. Has a good scent, one pump takes care of the face and neck. It’s a basic but good product. The only “con” is that it doesn’t have SPF.

Rating out of 5: 4

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes, if you have combo skin try this out!

Rimmel London – Stay Matte Powder in 004 Sandstorm.

Another product mentioned in September Favorites 2017 + Makeup Breakup

“I recently picked this up and was so excited to try it because it has been raved about and considered a must-have for years. Surprisingly I haven’t tried this before.

I love it. The other day my foundation just went on weird and patchy so I applied this on top and it turned my foundation into something amazing. It added more coverage, did add longevity to my foundation and locked everything in. If you haven’t tried this yet, you really should.”

Like Airspun, this is a makeup miracle worker. It just does something to my foundation and adds a bit more coverage as well as smoothing everything out.

Rating out of 5: 5

Will I repurchase/recommend? YES! It’s an amazing product, I think it’s a must-have for any makeup collection.

Maybelline® – Instant Age Rewind® Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment in Light.

I really like this. This was actually my first concealer! Back then I liked it for concealer, highlighting and priming my eyes. Since I’ve gotten it I really like it for concealing under eyes of course and highlighting down the bridge of the nose. I don’t think this is great for an eye primer when blending it gets a bit patchy. The only issue I have with this is that the sponge is a great home for bacteria, but if you replace it regularly and don’t share it with someone, you’ll be fine.

Rating out of 5: 4.5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes. It’s very good, multi-purpose and I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Travelmall – Professional Cosmetic Case Makeup Brush Organizer.

I

love

this

so

much.

This case is just really nice. Holds a ton, keeps them organized. If you have a few brushes and a small makeup collection you might even be able to use this to store your brushes and makeup. I am currently unable to zip it all the way, but I have around 40 brushes and a few cleaning products in there. I will be ordering another one just for face brushes, due to that.

Rating out of 5: 4.5

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes. I will buy another one soon for face brushes and I think anyone would enjoy this.

Facial Cleaners

I used this for brush cleaning. It cleaned my brushes really well! Some of them had really intense dark blue/purple shadow and I thought they would be stained for a while but it actually came all off with help from this product. I still don’t think I would use this on my face like it’s marketed.

Rating out of 5: 4

Will I repurchase/recommend? Yes! It was only a dollar for two of them and they did a good job.

Sassy + Chic – Eyelash Curler

I bought this simply because I don’t really curl my lashes and wanted to try one out. It’s okay, I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. I think I’ll end up buying a more high-end curler because this does feel very cheap.

Rating out of 5: 3

Will I repurchase/recommend? Eh, it’s okay. But for only spending a dollar it did a good job.

Overall I am so happy with the products I purchased!

Note: Certain products I love, certain products I hate. Things I love might not work for you and things I hate may be your holy grail. Please do not take any my opinions personal and be aware that things that work for me may not work for you, vice versa.
