October Favorites 2017 + Makeup Breakup

Hi, guys! I can’t believe it’s that time again! This month has really flown by. Here are my monthly favorites for October:

L’Oréal – Infallible Pro Glow Concealer in 01 Classic Ivory.

First things first, I hate this as a concealer. No coverage, horrible shade selection. But this is actually amazing for an eye primer. Put a bit on then I blend it with a micro beauty blender, set it with a translucent powder. My eye makeup doesn’t crease, lasts all day, and keep the color just as bright as the first application.

tarte – Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Light.

I don’t think this product needs to be explained, everyone and their mother loves it. To be completely honest I had high expectations of this product and was a little disappointed at first. After a few uses I’ve started to like it more and now it’s my go-to concealer. I love this for highlighting the face, it’s pretty good for priming the eyes, and it is pretty full coverage. I will say it’s not nearly the fullest coverage concealer I’ve tried. If I’m going for a really full coverage look I’ll add a bit of pink color corrector under it. Overall I’m really happy with it and actually just bought one for a Christmas gift!

Benefit Cosmetics – The POREfessional Face Primer

If you have small pores or large pores, you need this. This is the best pore filling primer I’ve come across and it’s pretty freaking amazing. I have average to large pores in multiple areas and this completely,  if not almost completely cover them. My makeup always lays well over it. I’ve found the best way to apply this is by warming it up on your fingers and applying it, I really don’t recommend a brush.

First Aid Beauty – Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

Isn’t that a mouthful? I got this in Sephora Play! a few months ago and it’s so good. It reminds me a lot of one of my favorite primers, Becca’s Backlight Primer, but more hydrating. This has so many good ingredients and leaves out many bad ones, it’s cruelty-free as well. This illuminates, smoothes and hydrates the skin. I also think it’s a great price. I’m almost out and will definitely be getting a full size. Because this is so hydrating I would avoid this if you have oily skin, or avoid putting this where you are really oily.

I love each of these by themselves but I use them together for the “perfect” brow. I find NYX’s Micro Brow in Brunette is a bit too warm and dark, and Benefit’s pencil in 3 is a bit too light. I mix them together and it’s the perfect color for my brow. Then I set it with Gimme Brow in 3 and it lasts all day and adds a bit of color as well. I recommend any of these products.

Benefit Cosmetics – Hoola Matte Bronzer

SO. GOOD. I tried this once and hated it because I felt like it just disappeared after applying it. I tried it out again after setting my face with a powder (which wasn’t done on the first try) and it stayed all day exactly like I first applied it and it’s just so good. I can see why everyone raves about it! Despite being a lighter skin tone I really like how it looks on my skin and I think this paired with the Wet N Wild contour palette mentioned in my last favorites just gives me the perfect cheek combo.

simplepleasures – Collagen Face Mask

This face mask is amazing. Honestly, it’s one of the best I’ve tried. It’s a collagen mask that claims to

“Rejuvenate skin and boost collagen production to tighten skin.”

“Helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.”

“To promote more youthful and hydrated skin.”

You’re supposed to leave it on for 5-10 minutes, then go to sleep with the mask on. I personally think that is really unrealistic because in that time frame the mask is quite “goopy” and very wet. I waited about two hours and then went to bed. By that time it was dried down quite a bit but still tacky. Anyway I woke up in the morning and it was completely dried down, washed it off with warm water about 30 minutes after waking up. I immediately noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. A lot of my “breakouts” were gone, I noticed an improvement in my laugh lines and my skin felt so soft, clear and hydrated. Did I mention the mask is only $1.25?! It’s amazing and worked better than one of my favorite high-end hydrating face mask. Also was completely fine on my sensitive skin. They also have a Charcoal face masked based with clay. I used that a night or two ago and did notice an improvement in my skin but I wasn’t blown away.

The one con about this product is it is hard to get. I’ve searched and searched for a place to buy these online but right now there aren’t any, I can’t even find a website for the brand. I picked this up at Walgreens in the stocking stuffers/Christmas gifts display they always put out. If you live near a Walgreens I HIGHLY recommend trying to find this gem and if you don’t then maybe check on the drugstore near you. If anyone knows a mask like this please let me know.

Below are links to the “simplepleasures” page at Kohl’s and Walgreens, these masks might be listed online at some point but like I said currently aren’t.

Kohl’s – Simple Pleasures Health & Beauty

Walgreens – SimplePleasures

 Caudalie – Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

“What it is:
A bestselling gel-cream to intensely moisturize and calm dehydrated, irritated skin.

Solutions for:
– Dryness
– Dullness and uneven texture
– Fine lines and wrinkles

If you want to know more…
This cult classic gel-cream deeply hydrates, soothes, and softens all skin types—even the hypersensitive ones. Powered by Caudalie’s organic grape water and patented grape-seed polyphenols, this cream not only provides hydration, but it also protects the skin from free-radicals, which causes wrinkles. This formula is rich in Vinolevure® to strengthen skin to become less sensitive and more resilient over time.

When applied, the texture is initially a cream, and once it comes in contact with the skin, it “breaks” and turns into a gel, creating a surge of moisture. This “quick break” technology is the lipophilic technology that allows water to be trapped in the cream, and once the cream touches the skin, it releases the water for lightweight hydration.”

Research results:
In a 28-day clinical trial on 22 volunteers:
– 90% soothed skin
– 77% reduced redness

I got this item in a giveaway and I LOVE IT. I have sensitive skin as well as a lot of redness so I plan to purchase this again due to the claim of reducing redness AND skin sensitivity in a clinical trial. It evidently hydrates my skin and soothes it.

belif – The True Cream Aqua Bomb

I LOVE this stuff. I got it in a giveaway and I’m almost out but this is just so good. It adds so much hydration to my face and is really cooling to apply. I would say this has helped dullness but haven’t noticed it doing a ton for my pores.

What it is:
An ultra-lightweight, oil-free gel-cream that instantly cools and refreshes skin while providing intensive hydration.

Solutions for:
– Dryness
– Pores
– Dullness and uneven texture

If you want to know more…
This formula contains a blend of apothecary herbs, including antioxidant-rich lady’s mantle which helps neutralize skin-damaging free radicals, improves skin elasticity, and minimizes the appearances of pores. The refreshing cream is formulated to burst when applied, releasing a flood of weightless moisture onto skin for a healthy, smooth, supple appearance.”

Wet N Wild – ProLine Felt Tip Eyeliner in Black.

If you checked out my Huge Makeup Haul! 24 Products you’ll recognize this product. I actually really liked it when I first used it, it has a lot of pigment and I really like the size of the felt liner and the size of the liner/packaging. Anyway, after the first use, it was doing this weird thing of drying literally the second I put down any pigment. It was tugging at my lid to apply it, I couldn’t go back to fix anything I messed up, it was just a wreck.

  1. I’ve been struggling to find a good concealer, I’ve never tried Shape Tape (always on the wish-list never in the checkout). The cheap Collection one I got a whim is not that great (not really surprised I just got it because it’s cheap). Is Shape Tape good for pale skin?

      1. I’m from the UK so I’m not sure if I have an Ulta near me, but I’d probably be able to get a sample online from somewhere 😀
