Hi, guys! How are you all today? This is my first post since doing my Halloween special. I had SO much fun doing it and you guys seemed to really like it. It really pushed me to do makeup looks I may not have done otherwise. I originally planned to just do 3 posts leading up to Thanksgiving but now I want to do more! Now I’m thinking about doing 7 or so. Let me know what you guys would like and what you’d like to see.
This is, of course, a follow-up review for Drugstore Haul! L’Oreal, e.l.f., Sonia Kashuk and more!. It’s been a little over two weeks since that was published and I have a lot of opinions to share with you guys!
OH. MY. GOSH. SO. GOOD. I was really excited when I picked this up but a little hesitant because the last brush collection I picked up from this brand (Knock Out Beauty, 2016) shed a lot, so much I didn’t want to use the otherwise good brushes. This set has come leaps and bounds since that last one. I did have a few hairs fall out (maybe five) when I first bought them but otherwise.
My favorites are the face brushes. The big fluffy brush is AMAZING for setting your face with powder and dusting off “bake”. The tapered brush is my new holy grail for contouring/bronzing. The flat top brush is okay, I don’t use brushes like that a lot but it is good. I like the fan brush okay, I find it’s so big you can’t use this with palettes and all of my highlighters are in palettes.
For the eye brushes, there is a concealer brush that’s more fluffy than the normal concealer brush, I like it for setting the lid with translucent powder. There’s a dense fluffy blending brush, I’m not a huge fan of it. I think it blends a bit too much and turns shadow muddy BUT it’s very good for highlighting and concealer. The smudge brush is good, like many other smudge brushes. The eyeliner is very small and dense, it’s good but I have others I prefer. There’s a small blending brush and I LOVE it. It’s great for blending of getting in the inner corner of the lid. The only con about these is the brush handle feels cheap, but the brush quality is so good, especially for synthetic, who cares? Same for the double-sided lip brush, it’s good for lining, getting in nooks of the eye area and of course lipstick.
I own $1 brushes, I own $60 brushes. These are amazing. If you can get your hands on them honestly buy more than one they are so good.
It’s 99 cents. 99 cents. These are one of the best brushes for blending and I love them. I will say it’s easy to blend too much with these and they stain easily. But otherwise they’re great and I really recommend them!
LOVE THESE. The applicator seems a bit gimmicky but it actually made putting these on a breeze. The glue is also great, way better than the brush on glue from duo that I’ve been using. The lashes are amazing. For my eyes, they look natural but add a dramatic “oomph” to my makeup. The lash band is also so easy to work with. I wore these in Halloween 2017 Tutorial: Wonder Woman, pictures below if anyone wants to see how they looked.
Keeping in mind that they were only a dollar, they are not bad. If you are just wanting to play around with lashes these would work fine but Adrell’s are waaay better and you could probably keep a coupon/discount/sale on them too! The lash band is a bit too stiff and thick. These aren’t bad by any means they just work and love to make them look good. Also, you should buy some lash glue because the lash glue provided was almost completely dry and the glue that did work didn’t work well. I wore these in Halloween 2017: Lace Mask Tutorial and Halloween 2017: Half Fairy Makeup Tutorial here are some pictures below, for anyone who wants to know what they look like.
One thing that I found with both these and Adrell’s is that they made my lashes suffer the next day(s). I’m pretty confident it wasn’t an error in application or removal but just wearing lashes. I will certainly be wearing Adrells again and using them on future clients but I’ll skip on e.l.f.’s.
I picked this up because Pro Matte is my favorite drugstore foundation and honestly I prefer Pro Matte better. I LOVE that this has SPF and it’s also a good shade match for me but I don’t think it is as wear longing as Pro Matte and I do find myself getting more oily than usual. I like this foundation but I do have others I prefer, if you have dry skin I think you’d love this.
All Nighter dupe? The jury’s still out. I’ve worn this a few times and I like it, not as much as Urban Decay’s but hey, it’s much less expensive and does the job. I’m not impressed or disappointed with this. I will continue to test this and let you guys know if my thoughts change!
LOVE THIS. If you’re looking for a color corrector, give this a go. I love the pink shade for my under eyes and the green works great for redness. I haven’t really tried the others out but if the formula is the same you won’t be disappointed. These blend so easily and layer great.
e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black and Teal Tease.
SO GOOD. I haven’t tried these on the eyes yet, but these would AMAZING on the face, see below: Halloween 2017: Lace Mask Tutorial
I used the black to do these and it was so easy to work with!
e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in St Lucia.
This is just kind of disappointing. It looks so much different than the original St Lucia I don’t even want to use this. I’ll try it soon and let you know if my thoughts change, but for now, it’s going in my purse cosmetic bag.
Have you guys tried any of these products? What do you think about them?
Thanks for reading! 🙂
