Play! by Sephora – December 2017 Follow Up Review

Hi, guys! It’s been a little over two weeks since I showed you what I received in this months Play! box. I have to say that I really love this box! It’s not the best ever but nothing in here is bad and it will all be used. Anyway, onto my thoughts!

Check out the unboxing: Blogmas: Play! by Sephora – December 2017

CLINIQUE – Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen in 01 $21.00 USD

“What it is:
A 24-hour wear, eyeliner pen that delivers precise, dramatic lines.

What it does:
Apply eyeliner like a pro. This mistake-proof liquid liner creates a clean line in one steady sweep. Its tapered, precision brush design makes it easy to paint on pure, deep color for thin to thick lines that won’t budge.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens

What else you need to know:
This product is ophthalmologist- and allergy-tested, safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, and is 100 percent free of fragrance.”

The jury’s out on rather or not I like it, but it’s not horrible. It’s opaque, more matte than satin, easy to apply… the only issue I’ve had is where it gets too thick due to trying to make it even, which is debatably user error. Besides that issue, it’s pretty good. I’ve only used it twice so I feel it’s too soon to say if I like it or not, but I will definitely try it again!

MAKE UP FOR EVER – Artist Rouge Lipstick in Fuchsia Pink $22.00 USD

“What it is:
An innovative, bold lipstick that provides long-wearing, show-stopping color and endless creamy comfort.

What it does:
Now saturated with 25 percent more pigment than the original Rouge Artist, Artist Rouge Lipstick brings bold color impact to lips that make a statement. This extremely pigmented formula not only provides intense, opaque color but boasts an ultra-creamy, non-drying formula that hydrates the lips for ultimate comfort. Its unique, precision shaped bullet allows for easy, defined application while the long wear formula will not bleed or feather. Artist Rouge is a bold collection that is professionally curated to include the most flattering shades across all color families—with a perfect match for each and every skin tone. It features two finishes: a matte for an ultra-matte yet velvety finish that won’t feel dry and a cream for intense color with a natural-looking, creamy finish.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates”

I love this lipstick! This is going to sound really weird but it’s this bright, in your face magenta BUT it’s very natural at the same time! It’s not over the top, it’s just perfect. It’s a sophisticated inyourface magenta, it’s amazing. I’ve been loving to apply it to the middle of my lips over a darker nude, it looks so good and unexpected (see picture below). It’s so creamy, I just love it.

Laura Mercier – Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Au Naturel. $29.00 USD

“What it is:
A long-lasting, creamy eyeshadow stick that can also line, highlight, and create smoky looks.

What it does:
This multitasking eyeshadow stick delivers both easy application and high-definition, long-lasting color. Long-wearing, transfer-proof, and crease-resistant, the color glides seamlessly onto lids and blends and layers beautifully with a rich pigment-payoff. It features a myriad of shades and finishes to deliver endless options for an effortlessly beautiful eyes that stand out both day and night.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

What else you need to know:
This product was dermatologist tested.”

I’m pretty disappointed with this product. It swatches as a khaki but when you apply it to the eye area it’s basically just a nude color, looks like you just put a bit of concealer on your lid. The formula is very good but overwise I’m just not into this product. I might try it on my lower lash line to give a bit of definition, but I’m just not loving it. I don’t know if anyone got any other colors, but I’m not sure why they sent this shade to me. I have my profile set to where they send me more bold colors of things, i.e. magenta lipstick instead of a nude or red. I would have preferred pretty much any other color. Nevertheless, the formula is good and I will play (pun intended) with it some more.

Caudalie – Vine[Activ] Energizing and Smoothing Eye Cream $39.00 USD

The complex is further enriched with collagen-boosting vitamin C and radiance-enhancing vitamin E to leave eyes and lips looking brighter and healthier.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates”

Really, really like this eye cream. It’s hydrating, it has reduced my dark circles and fine lines and it helps with puffiness! One thing that is weird is that this is described as an eye cream but it’s actually for fine lines (etc.) around your lips too! I find $39.00 USD overpriced for an eye cream but this is very, very nice and I do see myself buying this again. I highly recommend this to anyone who has dark circles, fine lines, puffiness or if you’re just looking for a new eye cream.

Drybar – Triple Sec 3-in-1 $26.00 USD

Which hair type is it good for?
✔ Straight
✔ Wavy
✔ Curly
✔ Coiled
✔ Tightly Coiled

What it is:
An airy dry spray that creates instant texture, volume, and body.

Key benefits:
– Extends your blowout
– Creates a tousled look
– Adds texture

If you want to know more…
Triple Sec 3-in-1 is the instant volume and texture refresher. Perfect for refreshing limp locks, it provides soft, matte texture for a perfectly tousled look. It amplifies flat hair for intense volume and fullness, and absorbs light oils, leaving hair feeling fresh and clean.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates”

I am obsessed with this! I’ve only used it once and I couldn’t get enough of it. It doesn’t make your hair crunchy like most products like this, which I love. It adds on of volumes, made my curls curlier, it was just lovely and smelt so good. After I used this on my hair my mom used it and she loves it too! I rarely spend $26.00 USD on hair products but I would definitely buy when I run out.

Stella McCartney – Stella $25.00 USD – $96.00 USD

“The first scent from Stella McCartney, STELLA, is a homage to the English rose, and an effortless expression of femininity. The refined floral evokes a rose in full bloom in a traditional English garden with a sultry amber contrast. Beautiful and unapologetically feminine, STELLA’s scent composition is approachable and enduring.

Soft rosy floral top notes drive the fragrance, subtly balanced with sharp, fresh mandarin essence and light peony flower. Intensifying and elongating the opening notes, the heart is pure rose, to represent absolute femininity. Stella’s base notes give a strong, sensual finish. Resonating up through the rose accord, the masculinity of the amber contrasts the floral side, making it bold with a sensual finish.

The fragrance is contained in a faceted bottle inspired by an amethyst crystal, radiating an ombre of plum hues designed by Stella McCartney.

Rose, Peony Flower, Mandarin, Rose Absolute, Amber.
Sensual. Intense. Feminine.”

I feel like I say this in every review with a perfume but I am horrible at describing them. All I can tell you is it is very floral with a hint of honey and I like it a lot. Not as much as KVD Sinner, YSL Black Opium, or Marc Jacobs Daisy, but I like it. I don’t see myself repurchasing simply because I like others better.

That’s it for Decembers box! Overall I’m very happy with it and I can’t wait for January’s box.
