Tutorial: Katherine Langford Golden Globes 2018

Hi, guys! The Golden Globes were almost two weeks ago and I’ve wanted to recreate a look ever since. This years ceremony was much more than awards for great work in movies/television series, it was a movement. Almost everyone wore black in support and to raise awareness of Time’s Up.

Time’s Up is a movement against sexual harassment in the workplace.  They are helping women and men that are being harassed with their TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund to get them the justice they need and deserve. I highly recommend reading the Time’s Up Now website to learn more and making a donation if you can.

Because of the black/mostly black outfits this year, many actresses’ choose to wear more makeup than they usually would, and the majority of the looks were absolutely stunning. There were a few looks that I loved but this look really stood out to me and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. Katherine’s makeup was absolutely lovely! It was a bold grey smokey eye, satin sculpted skin, and a luscious nude lip.

The makeup just really struck me as being beautiful so I decided to recreate it. I actually didn’t know who Katherine is or what she’s done but she’s an Australian actress best known for playing Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why.

Her dress and hair were completely gorgeous too!

If you love her look half as much as I do, here’s a tutoiral on how to recreate it.

I started out the look by buffing a cool toned brown into the crease and winging it out. I gradually went in with different grey shades in the crease to add defination and color. I applied more metallic shades of grey to the lid and blended upward. The key with the look is just building colors and textures. I applied a dark, metallic grey to the lower lashline and blended out a bit. I highlighted with a lighter metallic grey. I finished with using the same cool toned brown on my eyebrows, once again to mimic how Katherine’s were filled in.

I used an illumanting primer to mimic her fresh, satin skin and a full coverage foundation. I sculped the cheeks with a bit of blush and bronzer.

Stephen, her makeup artist for the Golden Globes, mentioned in an Instagram post that he used Burt’s Bees “lip Matte Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands w/ Suede Splash lipstick over it.”. I didn’t have those so I did a bit of mixing.

Step one: Apply a dark nude as a base.

Step two: Apply a lighter pinky nude on top.

Step three: Apply a pink based lipgloss to finish.
