Play! by Sephora – January 2018 Follow Up Review

Hi, guys! I hope you all are doing well. It’s been just over two weeks since my ‘unboxing’ of Sephora’s latest Play! box went up, meaning it’s time for the review, yay! I am happy with all the items that I received and I can’t wait until February’s, I have a really good feeling about it. As always, I hope you enjoy this post and let me know if you’ve tried any of these or if you have any thoughts!

Love, love, love! I’ve had ‘skin issues’ where I haven’t been able to wear lip products BUT I have worn this once or twice and it was so lovely. The color is absolutely gorgeous and it is SO pigmented! I can’t wait to use this more and I know it’ll be amazing for the upcoming Valentine’s Day tutorials I’ll be doing.

GLAMGLOW – SUPERCLEANSE™ Clearing Cream-to-Foam Cleanser $32.00 USD

IMG_3257

“Which skin type is it good for?
✔ Normal
✔ Oily
✔ Combination

What it is:
An advanced cleanser with a powerful blend of three charcoals to detoxify skin by removing pore-clogging debris, excess oil, and face makeup.

Solutions for:
– Acne and Blemishes
– Oiliness
– Pores

If you want to know more…
Formulated with powerful actives for super-clean, glowing skin, this must-have creamy cleanser transforms into a luxurious foam to blast away impurities and remove pore-clogging debris. The pore refining triple charcoal complex contains three charcoals—coconut, ubame white oak, and gray bamboo—to detox skin, while botanical ingredients like TEAOXI® eucalyptus leaf, licorice root, and cumin seed purify. Skin-refining, powerful AHAs support natural cell turnover and renewal, while K17 and Mediterranean clays absorb oils to mattify skin and restore balance to your complexion. Skin is visibly improved after each cleanse, with a diminished appearance of pores and a refined texture and tone.”

I have used this a few times and it really started to break me out. If you have sensitive skin I would really steer clear of this. Otherwise, I think this product is pretty good. If you struggle with pores, oiliness, or acne I do think this is worth trying, as long as you don’t have sensitive skin. I’ve used it to remove makeup and it didn’t work great, I see this as a cleanser for makeup-free skin or as a second step after cleansing. I also think $32 (USD) is way overpriced for this item.

Overall I would recommend getting a sample of this if you struggle with what I mentioned, other wise I’d pass on this cleanser. I think you could find something similar for a better price.

CLINIQUE – Pep-Start Eye Cream $26.50 USD

✔ Normal
✔ Oily
✔ Combination
✔ Dry
✔ Sensitive

What it is:

If you want to know more…
This lightweight eye cream provides a rush of hydration and instant brightening so you look and feel refreshed, wide awake, and ready for anything in as little as three seconds. Its cool touch and de-puffing tip help keep eyes looking fresh while smoothing the way for makeup. Plus, its peptides help support natural collagen reserves that can be threatened by stress, fatigue, and lack of sleep—the tell-tale signs of your busy life.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens

What else you need to know:
This product is allergy and ophthalmologist tested, and free of oil and fragrance.

This product is an Allure Best of Beauty award winner.”

I really, really like this eye cream! It’s very hydrating and it depuffs the eye area so much. I didn’t even realize my eyes were so puffy haha. I highly recommend trying this for anyone looking for an eye cream, especially one for hydration and depuffing. If you have concerns farther than that I would pass on this just because it’s a very basic (but good) eye cream.

It’s almost out and I will definitely be buying a full size soon!

Smashbox – Photo Finish Primerizer $42.00 USD for a Standard Size

IMG_3252

“Which skin type is it good for?
✔ Normal
✔ Oily
✔ Combination
✔ Dry

What it is:
A face primer and moisturizer in one that delivers 24-hour hydration and powerful primer benefits in the lightest possible texture.

Solutions for:
– Dryness
– Dullness and uneven texture
– Fine lines and wrinkles

If you want to know more…
Primerizer instantly increases moisture and preps skin for makeup in one step. The non-greasy, quick-dry formula sets in seconds, acting as a makeup magnet that locks on foundation and makes it last. It plumps and moisturizes with niacinamide (which improves skin’s vitality and barrier repair) and hyaluronic acid (a molecule that holds water within the skin to prevent moisture loss). Primerizer also smooths skin, softens dry fine lines, and stops makeup from settling into pores.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Phthalates”

This item is really nice. I didn’t expect it to do much but it is really hydrating and made my skin look lovely.

I’m actually pretty disappointed with the packaging of this item. It doesn’t make sense. The product is hard to get out and I know a lot of product will be wasted due to that. I wish this would have come with a dropper or a pump.

Overall this was nice to use, it didn’t extend the wear of my makeup but it was very hydrating and I feel like it made my skin look really nice. I think this product is overpriced so I won’t be buying a full size. If you’ve been interested in this I think you should get a sample or try First Aid Beauty – Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer. It’s my holy grail for when my skin is dry. It adds a lot of hydration, longevity, and moisture to my skin.

Fresh – Rose Floral Toner $40.00 USD

“Which skin type is it good for?

✔ Normal
✔ Oily
✔ Combination
✔ Dry
✔ Sensitive

What it is:
A hydrating and soothing mist toner blooming with aromatic rosewater that is ideal for setting makeup and refreshing the skin throughout the day.

Solutions for:
– Dryness
– Oiliness
– Dullness and uneven texture

If you want to know more…
Set the tone for healthier-looking skin. Fresh Rose Floral Toner is a soothing toner that works to clarify the complexion for a dewy look. The cooling, alcohol-free blend is blooming with aromatic rosewater—revered since antiquity for its calming and hydrating benefits. Plus, its mist applicator makes it ideal for setting makeup and refreshing the skin throughout the day.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

What else you need to know:
“The rose truly represents beauty. It’s beautiful to look at, beautiful to smell, and has all these beautiful benefits. I call it ‘nature’s wonder.’ The flower yields a precious oil that helps to hydrate, soothe, and tone the skin. With today’s technology, we are able to refine the purity of the extract, making it even more effective in skin care.”—Lev Glazman, Fresh Co-founder”

I love Fresh but to be honest I am a bit underwhelmed by this. I really enjoyed using it but I got about 6 uses out of it and I feel like I couldn’t see the full effects due to the amount they gave us. I haven’t tried it but from what I’ve heard about Mario Badescu – Facial Spray With Aloe, Herb, and Rosewater it would pretty much do the same thing for a lot less. Which brings me to my next point, I feel like this is way overpriced. I won’t be purchasing the full size and if you’ve been interested in this item I would actually recommend trying Mario’s rosewater or opting for Fresh’s rose face mask, which I love.

  1. Briogeo is very nice! I agree with you on the fact that Fresh’s prices are outrageous- the only thing I’ve repurchased from them after trying the sample was their rose deep hydration face cream, but it was still $40
