Anti Haul + Wishlist – February 2018

Hi, guys! I hope you all had a great Valentine’s day! A few days ago I did a poll on Instagram stories asking when I should do a new Anti Haul + Wishlist and everyone said I should do it this week, so here we are! I love doing these so of course, I was happy to see that. I would like to say if you see something you like or want to get, please don’t be offended by me listing it as something I don’t like/want/etc. Let me know your thoughts on these products in the comments!

Maybelline – The City Kits All-in-One Eye & Cheek Palette

To me, this palette just looks like a shimmery, powdery mess. I do like some of the shades in the palette but I feel like it really needs a few matte shades. I won’t be purchasing it because it seems like a lower quality product and I don’t think I’d ever reach to it due to the shades.

Tarte – Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Matte Foundation

tarte received a ton of backlash when they launched this foundation due to there being 3 or so shades for people darker than a summer tan and it seems like the formula for both the matte and hydration is kinda crappy. They’ve received horrible reviews. I was excited when I heard this foundation was coming out because I really enjoy shape tape concealer but now I want to stay clear of this foundation. I have a feeling they are going to revamp it or discontinue it soon.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Soft Glam Palette

I’ve never tried a palette from ABH and this definitely won’t be my first. I feel like a lot of the shades look very similar to another and this palette is just very basic to me.

Too Faced – Life’s A Festival Collection

This collection features an eyeshadow palette, highlighter and lipsticks just to name a few, all focused on the festival theme and unicorns. I will not pick up anything from this collection, it thinks it’s overpriced, gimmicky and just very unnecessary. Also, since when do festivals and unicorns go together? This collection is just very cheesy and it’s more about trends from two years ago instead of creating new, functional, beautiful makeup for everyone. It just seems like the majority of products launched by Too Faced tend to be gimmicky, nothing new and geared towards teenagers instead of everyone. It’s really disappointing because they are a brand I used to love.

The top items I would avoid would be:

Too Faced – Unicorn Tears Bronzer

I feel like this is just an obviously horrible idea. Bronzer and an opalescent highlighter in one, what a cringe moment. It seems like a patchy, glittery mess. This honestly leaves me speechless.

Too Faced – Rainbow Strobe Highlighter

I’ve seen this a hundred times. The rainbow highlighter trend started almost two years and just about every brand has released their version of the original highlighter. I think everyone is over it.

If I bought anything from the collection it would be the eyeshadow palette, I do think there are some pretty shades but I think $42 USD is way overpriced and you can get shades like this for much, much less.

MAC – Eyeshadow X 29: Lo-Fi / Jeremy Scott

This collection is so beautiful and I really like Jeremy Scott but I’m really not a fan of this palette. I think the eyeshadow palette is way overpriced at $75 USD and looks like a beginner palette that you buy inexpensively so you have a lot of shades to work with. The packaging is way too bulky and just seems like a hassle to work with.

Makeup Revolution – Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal & Contour

I’ve been reading so many good reviews about this on WordPress and I have to try it. The shade range is amazing and it’s only $7 USD! I plan on picking it up in early March and I will definitely do a review on it.

Makeup Revolution – Reloaded Palette in Newtrals 2 and Division

Newtrals 2 – image source:—Neutrals-2/m-2534.aspx
Division – image source:—Division/m-2535.aspx

Just look at those! They look so beautiful. I’d like to pick up 2/4 of the Reloaded palettes, the shades Division and Newtrals 2. Newtrals 2 just looks like a warm tone heaven and I’m loving the red shades! I have really high hopes for that palette because I don’t have red shades like that and I’ve wanted them for so long.

Division is a rather random palette but in the best way possible. It reminds me of a palette ABH has out but at a lower price. I really love the colors and like Newtrals 2 palette, this has a lot of shades I don’t have. I’m going to Ulta in early March and I can’t wait to pick these up!

Kat Von D – Basket Case Anti-Precision Eyeliner

What it does:
Get ready to rock smudgy, smoky, and effortlessly messy looks inspired by Billie Joe Armstrong’s signature rock ’n’ roll eyes. Kat Von D teamed up with her friend, the lead singer of Green Day, to create an anti-precision, ultra-blendable eye pencil. From live shows to music videos to the red carpet, Billie Joe has rocked his iconic look since the 1990s. Now, you can recreate it, too, with this super-limited collaboration.

Basket Case Anti-Precision Eyeliner glides on creamy, with plenty of playtime. That means you can build, blend, smudge, and smoke it out to achieve your desired look, all before it sets in place for unstoppable wear. All it takes is one swipe of this chubby pencil to deliver maxed-out, ultra-black pigment, making Basket Case the perfect tool for super-fast lining all around the eye. Leave it be or blend it out with your fingers—when it comes to “guyliner,” the messier the better.”

I mean, how great does that sound? This eyeliner has amazing reviews and it just looks like it would be a must-have for smokey eyes!

NYX Professional Makeup – Metallic Glitter

Beauty Beam – image source:

How gorgeous is that? I’ve heard so many good things about NYX’s glitters and this shade (Beauty Beam) is beyond beautiful so I really want to try it out. I recently purchased some of their regular glitters so I’ll be giving those a go then picking up one or two of these.

That’s it for my anti haul and wishlist! What are your thoughts? What is on your wishlist and what isn’t?

  1. It seems that Too Faced Life’s a Carnival collection really isn’t doing very hot. This is the second review I’ve read that basically gives it a thumbs down.

Also, the unicorn trend needs to stop. Same with the mermaid trend. It’s really overplayed.

  2. I have the Maybelline Palette you mentioned, and as much as I agree with you that it’s pretty discombobulated, the pigmentation is pretty killer. I use them to highlight my inner corners often, and plan to do a look featuring the palette at some point. Not saying you should drop coin on it, but it’s definitely better than I expected!

      1. I mean, it won’t be something you wear to the grocery store (unless you’re me lol) but I definitely agree it’s not a comprehensive palette to where you can create an every day look with it.

  3. I agree with every single thing on your antihaul list. Maybelline because I tend to stay away from drugstore eyeshadows-I love drugstore everything else, but eyeshadows I’ve had no luck.

The Too Faced collection is a hot mess. They’re about 3 trends too late with the unicorn thing, that whole thing has been done and done. I feel like Too Faced has been just inundating the market with launches, and they’re all just half assed.

The Jeremy Scott collection is neat looking and works in theory, not in practice. The eyeshadow palette has so much wasted space in it-it’s like, wait what? So issa hard pass for me too.

    Great list, girl!

  4. I’m so over the whole unicorn, rainbow, childlike stuff. It’s just so childish. I’m over it. I also am not into the Maybelline palette, it just looks odd. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    1. It is! It’s over done and you could get the same highlighter/etc from the drugstore for much less anyway. On top of that I believe Too Faced has done the unicorn trend several times. I haven’t heard a single person say they were into so I really don’t know what they were thinking.

I bet the highlighter would be pretty but it just looks odd like you said and I don’t think you could get a good look out of only that palette

      1. Same!! It’s so overdone. I don’t know why anyone wants to keep the trend going when it died forever ago! Yeah I just don’t see any point in any of this stuff.

  5. I totally agree with most of your anti-haul! What was Too Faced even thinking with that collection? One, everything looks super gimmicky like you said, and two, the unicorn trend is over.
I do think the ABH palette looks very boring, but somehow I find myself wanting it – LOL.

    1. Yes! I feel like they’ve already done the unicorn theme several times on top of that. I know what you mean about the palette, I defiantly wouldn’t buy it but I wouldn’t be mad if someone got it for me 😉 haha

  6. Ohmygosh guuurl I was just about to scroll down to the comments after seeing Tarte’s concealer on the list to tell you to get MUR concealer!! I saw a bunch of youtube reviews on it so bought two shades and it is literally my favourite concealer (I own two, and one is empty so it wasn’t exactly a hard fight but whatever)…it is awesome…and the shade range is what made me so happy 🙂 ..and yeh, that Unicorn Tears bronzer looks like it would be great for a little Instagram shot but it would be a nightmare to work with.

    1. That’s so awesome! I’ll definitely be picking it up! Completely agree about the shade range, more brands need to have one like it. Would you say it’s full coverage?

I just keep seeing an image of a blue, muddy bronzer and it makes me laugh so much 😂

      1. Ahh man. I wish I were more versed on make-up but I’m literally the worst person to ask…I don’t own enough products to know how to tell the difference between full and light coverage so I can’t even answer that question…but here’s one of the reviews on it: …that link should work…hope it helps bub 💖
