February 2018 Monthly Favorites + Makeup Breakup

Hi, guys! I hope you all are well. February has been a good month and seems to have gone by much slower than January! I had a pretty good month and yesterday was my birthday so March is getting off to a good start haha. Let me know what your favorite products have been this month and if there’s anything you’re breaking up with!

Makeup and Skincare:

Kat Von D – Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad in Plum

I am just so in love with this palette. I am so sad it’s being discontinued. The quality of these shadows is amazing! They blend great, highly pigmented. They’re just awesome and I’ve been using it a lot lately. This is the only palette I keep in my makeup bag, I think that says a lot.

This palette has gone in and out of stock at Sephora the last few months, so you might not be able to find it easily but if you do – it’ll be well worth the search.

Wet n Wild – Color Icon Eyeshadow 10 Pan Palette in Rosé in the Air.

Review of the NEW Wet N Wild Palette – Rosé in the Air

I recently wrote a review about this palette (see link above) and I really love it. Any makeup lover can tell just by looking at it that it’s pretty dead on dupe for ABH’s Modern Renaissance palette. I love 9/10 of the shades and I find myself using them every day. I am so impressed by this palette. It’s only $5 and I think everyone should try it! If you’d like to know more of my thoughts, I recommend checking out the review I did, it’s pretty detailed.

The Ordinary – Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

This month I have really been loving this serum. It’s the first product I’ve tried from The Ordinary and it will not be the last. If you are unfamiliar with The Ordinary, the offer skincare at a very inexpensive price tag and have recently started selling at Sephora! When I saw they were expanding at Sephora I was SO happy because I’ve wanted to try something from them for so long. I was not disappointed! First, the price. $6.80. GASP. I’m blown away by the price. Second, this is a really good product. My skin has been really dry this winter and this product has really helped. My skin is still a bit on the dry side but I can tell this has made a difference in my skin.

One thing I will say about this product is to use a very small amount then build from there if needed. If you apply too much it starts to peel. Around four drops are all you need. Also, make sure it has fully dried before applying other skincare products. If you have dry skin I highly recommend trying this!

Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner

I used to use this toner a long time ago, I think I was 11 or so. I really liked it because it helped with acne and made my skin feel really good. So when I recently ran out of toner I picked this up to try again! I’m so glad I did. I feel like it has brightened and balanced my skin. It’s also made a big difference in my pores. I still have pores, but they have reduced very much. Like The Ordinary serum, this toner is so inexpensive. I picked up a 16 oz bottle at Walgreens for $6. That’s crazy! It works great, does what it says, and it’s inexpensive. What more could you ask for?

TV Shows and Albums:

Kelly Clarkson – Meaning of Life

I love Kelly Clarkson and I love this album. I think it’s one of her best albums ever and there’s just so many good songs on it!

Offspring is an Australian TV show with 7 seasons, it’s available on Netflix (in the US at least). Nina is a really amazing, unique character who is an obstetrician with a crazy family. I started this show on a whim, I’ve never heard anything about it before watching. It’s a really great show, it is pretty dramatic/a bit like a soap opera from time to time. I really recommend this show for a good binge but I would also recommend skipping the first season, it was pretty slow and I almost stopped watching the series because of it.

Makeup Breakup:

MAKE UP FOR EVER – Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner

I’ve been on the fence with this eyeliner for some time now and I’m just done with it. My issues with it are

  • It is not waterproof.
  • It transfers to the lower waterline when worn on the upper waterline.
  • It bleeds outside of the waterline.
  • It is not that pigmented (for the waterline).

If you’re not using this on the waterline it would probably work better but I would still pass, it’s overpriced in my opinion. I think there are so many better eyeliners out there and for a much better price.

That concludes my favorites and makeup breakup! Let me know in the comments what you’re loving and breaking up with this month! Have a great day!

  1. I’m so glad to see you include a product from the Ordinary-I just placed an order with them for the hyaluronic acid as well as 2 other things. I can’t wait to try them, and you’re so right about the prices!

  2. You’re really making me want that wet n wild palette even more now! Haha 🙂 I also love the ordinary and I have that serum too! I used it in my routine tonight in fact, and it’s really helping with my dry horrible skin xx

  3. For some strange reason that Ordinary Hyaluronic acid totally makes me break out. I swear it does, but it seems weird to me that it would. It’s supposed to hydrate your skin, and I have dry-ish skin, so I don’t get it. So I guess I’m going to break up with it! Glad it works for you though! Those eye palettes are soo pretty 🙂

  4. Really enjoyed reading this! I really want to try The Ordinary products, you’re so lucky you get it for so cheap! Over here, I would have to buy it for double that price haha so its not even worth it I think! Also, that kat von d palette has some amazing shades, need to get that! xx

    1. No worries dear! I accidentally published it as a backdate, then realized it and published it when I wanted it published. It never showed up in Reader because WordPress doesn’t want people reposting their posts multiple times. At least that was my understanding. I tried to have it fixed but they were unable to. On the bright side it’s just a monthly favorites post, not something I spent weeks researching etc! You should try something from them! The prices are great and the products seem to be just as good 🙂

      1. Oh no! I’m glad it wasn’t just me being stupid and overlooking it then! I felt bad, I hate missing my favorite bloggers post!
