Play! by Sephora – June 2018 Unboxing

Hi, guys! Welcome to today’s post, I hope you all had a good weekend. June’s Play! by Sephora popped into my mailbox on Friday so here I am with the products I received this month. I have to say even though I haven’t tried everything yet, this month is so good.

If you haven’t heard of Play! before… Play! by Sephora is a monthly beauty box, it retails for $10 USD. Currently, it is only offered in the USA. In each box, you will receive 5 deluxe samples (haircare, skincare, makeup, etc) and one bonus sample (typically a perfume). You will with also receive a drawstring bag, a pamphlet explaining the products you’ve received, and a 50 point Play! a pass which can be redeemed in-store with a full-size purchase.

The Products:

COVER FX – Perfect Setting Powder in Light Medium, $35.00 USD

“What it is:
An ultra-translucent, loose powder that sets makeup for all-day wear while imparting a soft-focus, airbrushed finish.

What it does:
This ultra-lightweight loose setting powder is consciously formulated without talc for an incredibly translucent finish that sets makeup for all-day wear. It minimizes transfer without adding any color to the skin or overpowering your foundation finish. Ideal for the baking makeup technique, this setting powder is formulated with light-diffusing particles that blur and smooth for a skin perfecting airbrushed effect that doesn’t look chalky or dry. It features universal shades for a translucent finish on all skin tones.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens

What else you need to know:
This product is vegan, clinically-tested, and free of talc, fragrance, gluten, and mineral oil.”

This month I am probably most excited about this setting powder! I have wanted to try it forever but the mini is always out of stock and I am a bit of a setting powder hoarder anyway. My teacher always raves about this and I’ve heard nothing but good things from others who have tried it. I can’t wait to use it! Also, the size is so cute and small, it melts my makeup loving heart.

A swatch is at the end of this post.

Too Faced – Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Queen B (matte soft mauve), $21.00 USD.

“What it is:
A lightweight, long-wearing liquified matte lipstick with a creamy and matte, color-rich formula.

What it does:
Matte color gets a makeover. Too Faced’s innovative formula glides onto lips like a gloss but dries to an ultra-matte, opaque finish. Melted Matte ensures that your lip color always looks rich, full, and kissable—and is never dry, shriveled, or cracked. The doe-foot applicator comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, vivid matte color that lasts for hours. It’s infused with Volulip for a no-sting plumping and smoothing effect and antioxidant-rich avocado oil and vitamin E to moisturize, while hyaluronic filling spheres smooth the look of lip lines. It comfortably coats lips with a wash of intense, high-impact, super-saturated color that lasts for hours.”

I’ve heard great things about these liquid lipsticks so I’m really excited to try this out! I’ve swatched it a few times and it has a really liquidly, melted texture. Queen B is described as a “soft mauve”, I would agree with that. It’s like a pinky nude, with a bit of a greige tone.

A swatch is at the end of this post.

Living Proof – No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream, $38.00 USD

“What it is:
A styling cream that smooths, conditions, and eliminates frizz by blocking humidity without weighing hair down.

Key benefits:
– Weightlessly blocks humidity
– Smooths, conditions, and eliminates frizz by blocking humidity without weighing hair down
– Ideal for medium to thick frizzy hair

If you want to know more…
When used as part of the No Frizz System, No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream smooths, conditions, and eliminates frizz by blocking humidity without weighing hair down. Powered by Living Proof’s patented Healthy Hair Molecule (OFPMA), the No Frizz System weightlessly blocks humidity, smooths hair texture so strands are left polished and frictionless. Ideal for medium-to-thick hair, it nourishes and conditions, leaving hair feeling moisturized. “

I live in a very humid place, which is great for my skin but makes my hair pretty much nothing but frizzy so I’m always looking for a good “frizz eliminator”. I’m hoping this works! This is safe for colored hair too, so I’ll be using it ASAP.

CLINIQUE – Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips, $19.00 USD

“What it is:
A go-to makeup remover that gently erases long-wearing eye and lip makeup without tugging skin.

What it does:
This eye and lip makeup remover leaves nothing behind. It effortlessly dissolves long-wearing makeup, even waterproof mascara. This gentle formula is tug-free, non-irritating, and non-stinging.”

I always like trying makeup removers and I like Clinique so I’m happy to see this. The Too Faced liquid lipstick seems very long-wearing so I’m sure I’ll be able to use this soon.

Sol de Janeiro – Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, $45.00 USD

I used half the jar before taking pictures, whoops.

“What it is:
A fast-absorbing body cream that helps tighten and smooth the look of skin.

Solutions for:
– Dryness
– Dullness and uneven texture
– Loss of firmness and elasticity”

I feel like I’ve said it with every product, but I am so excited for this item! This is a very popular product and I hear lots of good things about it, so I’m glad to try it myself. I wish you guys could smell this because it smells amazing. Kind of similar to Physicians Formula’s Butter Bronzer, but less Pina Colada and more tropical fruit, nutty.

This months bonus:

MARAJÓ – Deep Treatment Butter, $29.00 USD and MARAJÓ – Nourishing Cleansing Crème, $29.00 USD

From regarding Deep Treatment Butter:

“What it is:
A luxurious daily deep treatment featuring a blend of nutrient-rich butters and botanical oils for smooth, healthy-looking hair.

Key benefits:
– Hydrates dry hair
– Improves damage
– Adds shine”

From regarding Nourishing Cleansing Crème:

What it is:
A rich, moisturizing, gentle hair wash for soft, shiny hair.

Key benefits:
– Eliminates frizz and flyaways
– Volumizes without weight
– Cleanses and hydrates”

I usually prefer the perfume samples that they send but I’m glad I received a shampoo and conditioner this month. It sounds really nice and again, I’m always looking for something to help with frizz.

That’s it for this months box! Every single product looks great and I can’t wait to try everything. Now to you guys, have you tried any of these? What do you think of Play!? Let me know in the comments and thank you for reading! I hope you all have a great day.

    1. I really recommend it! I’ve been subscribed for nearly 2 years and I’ve loved almost every box. All products are deluxe samples which I love because I get to try the product, they usually last a long time and they don’t take up too much space in my collection.

If you’d prefer full size products, there’s a service called Boxycharm, they have 5 or so full size products per month. I think it’s under or around $30. I haven’t tried it but I’ve heard good things 🙂

  1. So many lovely things in the box! I’ve heard so many good things about the Too Faced Melted Matte lipsticks and the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream. I’m really interested to know what you think of it! I hope they do expand Sephora Play internationally in the future. Such an interesting programme! Great post. xx

    1. Me too, I have really high hopes. So far I’m really loving the cream 🙂 It really is, I hope they expand soon. Sometimes they sell the box online a few months after they are shipped out, those might be available for worldwide purchase

  3. This is so cool! I can’t wait to open my June play box after I come home from travel! Also, what do you think about the glitter bags?

    1. Yes!! I think they are awesome. I didn’t order one but from what I know I think it’s a great box. There was a product from Stila in it, I’m sure it’s their popular eyeshadow. Plus the bag itself is so pretty. What did you think?

      1. Like you, I didn’t order one but I think the bag looks awesome. I am not sure if I really want to order the $20 box because I sort of been let down from the $10 box. I kind of thought the play box would be better than I thought, but I hope that will change soon. I am excited to see my June box since I am still not back home. Seeing everyone’s review, it gives me mix reactions but overall I am excited to see what will be in my box.

  4. I love the design of that bag! I would like to try that anti-frizz cream because it’s been so humid here lately and it does a number on my hair.

I have that bum bum cream! It does smell amazing, though it’s strong. I can only use a little bit at a time.
