If we were having coffee….I’d ask how in the heck are ya? Long time no coffee! I can’t believe we haven’t chatted since March. Time really does fly.
If we were having coffee….I would tell you I’ve graduated and I am officially a certified makeup artist.
IM SO EXCITED! I am a certified makeup artist! I love the way that sounds. I really can’t believe it, but I did it. Being certified means I’m many steps closer to getting a job that I really want and to start freelancing. It proves that I’ve received proper training from how to determine someone’s skin undertone to how to sanitize brushes, makeup, etc. It also means that I am a MIMP (Master International Makeup Professional) which I think is pretty dang awesome.
As for education plans for the future, I have so many. Last October, I told you all I enrolled in my schools SFX course. They had a great discount for Halloween and I couldn’t pass it up. I anticipated starting SFX earlier this year and be done by October, but I’m actually going to start SFX in the Fall. I’m happy with my decision and I think it’s best that I take the summer off. Following SFX, I would like to take my schools skincare course. I wouldn’t be a licensed esthetician but I would be a skin care consultant. I think it would be a good introduction for esthetics. I might take more courses at my school after that. I think my last study will be esthetics, resulting with being licensed, but I think that’s a few years away.
If we were having coffee….I would tell you that I had my first surgery.
Gasp! No big deal, it was just my wisdom teeth. I had five wisdom teeth, one would never fully grow. The other four were a pain in my butt. I have a small mouth and the way that they were growing made my front bottom teeth slightly compacted. Plus, once or twice a month they would really hurt for a few days. So, they had to come out. I was fairly anxious but I had the sweetest doctor and my recovery went as well as it could have. I was wide awake after the surgery, I had no problems eating, I even lost 10lbs in the process (and I have kept them off). It was very painful when my gauze had to be changed (every 30 minutes for the first few hours, yay me) but otherwise, I was good and like I said my recovery was pretty great.
If we were having coffee…. I would tell you I’m really happy with how blogging is going.
I am really happy with it. My stats are doing good and I recently (finally) figured out how to use Pinterest for traffic. On July 31st (the day of my first post) I will have been blogging for one year, which is so crazy to me. I guess time does fly. I really can’t believe it. I haven’t run out of ideas yet, which is probably a good sign. It can be hard but overall it has been worth it. A year ago today I created emilyburnsmua blog.
If we were having coffee….I would talk to you about learning the ukulele.
I love it, I love it, I love it. My mom and I have been learning ukulele and it is so fun. I know a few songs and I’m currently learning “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”. It’s been hard but I’m getting the hang of it.
If we were having coffee…. I would talk to you about my love for snail mail.
I’ve always love sending and receiving mail (excluding bills etc). It just makes me happy. Two months ago I found a website where you can send and receive postcards from all over the world. Basically, the website will give you a person to send a postcard to. The person has a profile where they list a bit about them self and postcards they want to receive. You’ll pick a postcard for them, write them a message, and mail it. Anywhere from a few days to a few months later, the person that you sent it to will receive it and it will probably make them smile. Shortly after the smile, they will register the card on the website and send you a thank you message. Then the process repeats itself, but someone will receive your address and profile.
It’s a bit complicated to explain but it has been so much fun and even though I’ve only been a member for a couple months I feel like I’ve traveled to every place I’ve received a postcard from. I’ve even become pen pals with a girl from Spain who sent me a postcard. If any of you guys would like to hear more about it I’d be able to do a post on it.
If we were having coffee…. I would talk to you about Ruby.
My dog, Ruby, has been sick. Long story short, after visits to the vet they found that she has an abscess. After testing, they found that the abscess has saliva because Ruby has a blocked saliva gland. Somehow her saliva gland became blocked which prevented saliva from going where it needs to go and it is now going under her jaw, forming an abscess. It has been drained once and the abscess reformed. It has been really scary and we really thought she would pass away. Since the discovery of the abscess, she has been put on pain meds, antibiotics and most recently an anti-inflammatory. Since being put on the anti-inflammatory she has been doing a lot better and the abscess has actually begun to shrink. She’s not ‘out of the woods’ but she is doing so much better and is acting like herself again. Knock on wood, we are really hopeful. I’ve been a bit MIA with blogging because of it so I’m happy to start getting back into it.
If we were having coffee….I would give you a hug goodbye, thank you for listening and I would say we should do this more often. Bye for now, don’t forget to stop and smell the roses (or daisies).
